Coming Home
Would you quit waking me up!

Marisa trying to get the bedbugs out from the
night before.  We've had a few late evenings
causing all to rise a little later than normal.
For us, though, that means 7:30 rather than
6:00.  We have a big day today!

Last run to Shamian Island

We had a granite etching of the kiddos to
pick up on Shamian Island so we took one
last run in the afternoon.  We spent the
morning in our room as we had to stay by the
phone in case Amy, our guide, had any
problem with our paperwork at the Consulate
office.  I believe we passed.  I (Doug) got a
treat today.  As Nat and the kids were
shopping I was resting outside the store.
One of the workers came out to talk - she
was at the university studying tourism and
wanted to practice her English.  In a country
where I know nothing - it was fun to feel like I
had something to offer.  She was very good
with her English and appreciative of my help.
Definitely Matthew's sister

Like brother, like sister - it appears Marisa,
like Matthew, has a habit of sneaking away
and pulling stuff out of it's bag.  In this case
she was curiously examining all of her
diapers just to make sure they are worthy of
covering her bottom.  Not sure which pile is
the reject pile.
A Valentine's Treat

Some of the group treated ourselves to a
Pearl River dinner cruise for Valentine's
dinner.  What a treat.  The Pearl River is the
third longest in China and through
Guangzhou is bordered by some amazing
sights.  Beautiful at night.  Whole buildings
light up the night like billboards - something
we don't have in Kansas City - not by a long
shot.  You can also see all the preparations
for Chinese New Year which starts on
Sunday.  I'm gathering the Chinese know
how to throw a party.
Videos

To the right is Marisa dancing to the Pearl
River cruise music and the GZ skyline.
Below right is a new trick Marisa is wanting
to show you.  Finally, below is our slideshow
of the day.  I added a few Gotcha Day pics to
finish the music we added.  This song has
become somewhat special toward the end of
this process that we thought would never
end.  We have been constantly reminded
through this journey that God is in control.
Happy Valentine's Day - we love you all!  Hey loyal Marisa junkies - this may be our last post before
returning to Kansas.  We have a busy day today and not much worthy of posting since it mainly
centers around packing.  We will certainly journal the day and the trip home and then post within a
couple of days after returning.  If this is the last time you visit we would like to thank you once again
for joining us on this journey.  Our prayer through this is that your heart for the orphans of the world
has grown just as ours have.  We hope that God has touched you in this way.  God bless you!
