Another Beautiful Daughter

Just a note of congratulations to some great
friends of ours who are adding a beautiful
daughter to two beautiful daughters they
already have.  Amazingly we are adopting
through different agencies but ended up in
China on exactly the same dates.

Still Waking Up

Marisa's not had her morning cup of coffee
yet and is still trying to wake up.  During this
daily ritual she finds it more stimulating to
throw her bowl and spoon on the floor than
eat.  Many of the other kids are eating some
solids, but Marisa is choosing to stick with
what she knows best - formula and rice.
An Adoption Must Do

Shamian Island is the area in GZ that caters to
American tourists, especially those on adoption
trips.  Negotiation skills are a must. Fortunately I
enjoy the challenge and we had a wonderful day.
We chose the subway as our mode of
transportation to and fro.  Fortunately one of the
other couples had learned the ropes two days
before so we could benefit from their experience.
Transportation

Now that's a mini-van.  They don't mess
around here.  Transportation is point A to
point B and if a bicycle will suffice that's what
they use.  We saw very few luxury cars and it
appeared most had some utility to them.
Frankly I would expect a car is more a liability
in a city this size (about 10 million).
A Black Belt in Shopping

As you can see, Natalie, the Grand Master,
and Alexandra, the Master, are teaching
Marisa, the Apprentice, the fine art of finding
deals on Shamian Island.  Most of our
purchases landed on about two-thirds the
asking price.  Still looking for some nice
chopsticks - maybe next time.
Lucy's

Another western favorite for food is Lucy's on
Shamian Island.  We ate lunch there with
others from the group.  Just down the street
from the White Swan hotel they serve great
pasta, sandwiches, etc.  As you can see (if
you look closely) Marisa was enjoying a few
minutes in a big girl chair.
After a  long day

We spent most of the day on Shamian Island today and
capped it off with some ice cream from the 7-Eleven just
down the street from our hotel.  Nathaniel and Alexandra
are posing in their new t-shirts which reference their
positions as "ge ge - big brother" and "jie jie - big sister"
while Marisa is just trying to stand the hair bow long
enough for the picture to be taken.
Today's videos - Not much in the way of substance today on our
videos unless you consider just watching Marisa a pure joy.  We do
obviously and hope you do too.  See below for captions.
